Lexie has one goal in life: to grant one last wish for each of her patients. There isn’t a request she will deny, and has yet to fail to deliver a promise. That is, until the day she goes in search of the infamous rock star Kaleb Knight, who can’t care less about her life’s ambition, or the children she is determined to help.
Kaleb has his own dark secrets. He lives each day as if it’s his last, and refuses to spare a moment of his time to play the part of a knight in shining armor—especially for someone like Lexie . . . or so he thought. Now, his head and heart are at war, and his soul is screaming she is exactly what he needs.
Will Lexie be the only one that can save him in the end? Or will he instead succumb to the darkness threatening to consume him?
This is the first book I have read by Gabbie Duran but it definitely will not be the last. This author has written a very heartbreaking and heartwarming story about a disease that touches the lives of a lot of people, Cancer. Lexie, a pediatric oncology nurse, trys to grant a wish to each of the sick patients; while attempting to coordinate one of these wishes she has the unfortunate pleasure of meeting Kaleb, a rock star with a very bad attitude. Although this story details the pain that both Lexie and Kaleb have experienced in their past losing loved ones to cancer and Lexie losing patients to this same horrible disease, Gabbie has also included some humor to keep the story from being too depressing and some steamy scenes between Lexie and Kaleb. You’ll have to read this book to see if Kaleb’s secret comes between him and his pixie or if Lexie opens his eyes to what must be done. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see what Gabbie has planned for these two and the rest of the band.
